Here’s a story of a recent intake exam by the bees:
“So Melissa, tell us -what’s ailing you?”
Well, I’m experiencing a bout of PVC’s (pre-ventricular contractions) in my heart. I have a lot of work on my plate and it feels like there isn’t enough time to get everything done. I’m experiencing some grief lately, stemming from early childhood experiences being bullied at school. The current political climate in our country, particularly the attempt to destroy the commons- labor unions, teachers, firefighters- is weighing heavy on my heart. I see the link between my early experiences and what’s happening politically and economically in this country and I feel overwhelmed by it.
“Bzzzz- Zap! There you go- a sting just for you, at GV 26, right under your nose. It was there all along! That should do the trick, resetting your heart. Helps you focus, too- brings all your attention to what’s directly in front of you. How do you lead a bull? Not by the horns…by the ring in his nose! This should tell you something, sister.”
Ouch! Sometimes the truth has to hurt, I guess.
Next Day: “How are you feeling after your treatment, Melissa?”
Like a Michelle Pfeiffer/ Quasimodo combo! Don’t look at me!! Just kidding. Well, my heart feels like a million bucks. Felt better immediately. That sting you gave me brought my thoughts to more immediate matters. The stuff right under my nose, like you said. I didn’t want to go anywhere, or be seen, so I stayed at home and took care of myself. Wanna know something funny? I saw a different face, someone I recognized from long ago in my inflamed reflection- an innocent little girl! I guess I got to see the face of the one before all those hurts. Thanks for reminding me she’s still there!
“You’re welcome. Now go plant some plants.”
